17³Ô¹Ï signed a new partnership agreement with Foursquare Chaplains International during Foursquare Connection 2026 in San Antonio, creating a 50% tuition scholarshipÌýforÌýapplicantsÌýendorsed orÌýapprovedÌýbyÌýFoursquareÌýChaplainsÌýInternationalÌýandÌýpursuing the Master of Divinity at LPU.Ìý
The agreement reflects LPU’s commitment to serving the Foursquare family by creating affordable, Spirit-filled educational pathways for leaders serving in chaplaincy. Through the partnership, eligibleÌýapplicantsÌýwill have a more accessible way to pursue further ministry preparation while continuing to serve in communities, hospitals, military settings, workplaces, crisis response environments, and other places of need.Ìý
The scholarship opportunity is intended forÌýapplicantsÌýendorsed orÌýapproved by Foursquare Chaplains InternationalÌýpursuing LPU’s online Master of Divinity, a 72-unit graduate program designed to prepare leaders for pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, and full-time vocational ministry. The M.Div. provides advanced preparation in biblical studies, theology, spiritual formation, intercultural awareness, pastoral care, and practical ministry.ÌýÌý

Rev. Sara Eads, Director of Foursquare Chaplains International, said the scholarship strengthens the pathway for Foursquare leaders preparing for chaplaincy ministry.Ìý
“This scholarship knocks down financial barriers for thoseÌýcalled toÌýchaplaincy, allowing Foursquare chaplains to gain the knowledge and skills needed for fruitful ministry rooted in our Foursquare Pentecostal movement,†Eads said.Ìý
Retired Navy Captain and Chaplain Ray Houk (’89), who serves on the LPU Seminary committee, said the fully accredited Master of Divinity program will help prepare chaplains for meaningful ministry in a variety of settings.Ìý
“This fully accredited Master of Divinity allows chaplains to deliver effective ministry, with skills to integrate Word and Spirit, add value to organizations, and further the mission of the Church in the workplace,†Houk said.Ìý
The 50% tuition scholarship is designed to help remove financial barriers for chaplains who feel called to continue their education beyond the certificate level and deepen their ministry preparation through LPU’s M.Div. program. For many chaplains, the cost of graduate-level education can become a significant obstacle, especially for those already serving in demanding ministry settings.Ìý
“This is really to open access to education for our chaplains at Foursquare,†LPU VP of Enrollment and Marketing,ÌýSara Huson said. “We don’t want tuition to stop them from fulfilling the call of God in their lives.â€Ìý
ForÌýFoursquare Chaplains, the partnership creates a more affordable Foursquare-aligned pathway rooted in Pentecostal theology and ministry practice.Ìý
“When I entered chaplaincy, there wasn’t a Foursquare option,â€ÌýU.S. Army Chaplain Jeff CrispinÌýsaid.Ìý“I had to go to another institution, and it ended up meaning that I took out about $45,000 in student loans. That had me questioning my call at times. Being able to do this through Foursquare, with Pentecostal theology and being more affordable, is going to be a win-win.â€Ìý
Chaplains serve in a wide range of settings, offering spiritual care, presence, prayer, counsel, and support to people navigating crisis, transition, grief, trauma, and uncertainty. LPU’s Certificate in Chaplaincy helps prepare leaders for this work through practical training and mentorship from Foursquare Chaplains International. The new scholarship agreement creates anÌýadditionalÌýpathway for endorsed chaplains who want to continue their education through the Master of Divinity and grow in their calling.Ìý
Through this agreement, LPU is helping create a pathway for chaplains to receive Foursquare-aligned education without allowing tuition to become the deciding factor.Ìý
As LPU continues to expand its partnerships with Foursquare leaders, churches, and ministries, the universityÌýremainsÌýcommitted to making Christ-centered education more accessible and equipping leaders to serve wherever God is calling them.Ìý
